Another Lakmé Fashion Week, another Daniel Bauer Academy for Lakmé Fashion Week. Daniel Bauer Makeup Academy is now synonymous with the hair and makeup team for LFW and many other top FDCI runway couture shows in India.
This time around, we had a huge team of about 50 makeup and hair artists who have been our students from Daniel Bauer Academy Delhi, DBA Bangalore, and Mumbai academy too. We flew down students from all our academies to give them this wonderful opportunity to be a part of the biggest fashion show showcasing India’s top most fashion designers.
LFW’22 was an absolute learning experience for all our Daniel Bauer Academy students. They all got out of their comfort zones and did some crazy hair and makeup looks for numerous models walking for different designer shows. Each day started off with team briefings and look demonstrations by Daniel himself. Whether it was a crazy conical hairstyle for Satya Paul or a classic long indian braid for Gaurang, every look that our team created translated beautifully on the ramp.
The makeup briefs were all about beautiful Goddess like glowy skin, glossy lips and beautifully contoured eyes. With Gaurang Shah students got to amp up the looks with beautiful, bold kohl eyes, dark red bindis, sindoor and beautiful braids with flowers – the quintessential Indian woman. For Pankaj and Nidhi our team got to experiment with pops of colors on the eyes that brilliantly contrasted with the stunning outfits.
Daniel Bauer Academy students did about 15 designer shows at LFW’22 like Shantanu and Nikhil, Satya Paul, Shyamal and Bhumika, Stoique and also some really cool new young Gen Next designers like Bloni and Eshaa Amin. Team Daniel Bauer Academy was so happy to be doing such sultry clean makeup looks to boxed graphic liners and everything in between.
Hairstyling is always fun at fashion shows, from using so much gel for clean hair looks, to tight textured braids, top knots, glossy high ponies, curls, and so much more.
Lakmé Fashion Week 2022 was such a great learning experience for students, they even got to experiment with bleaching eyebrows, using holographic shades, using diamond stones and looking at makeup and hair aesthetic from different perspectives.
Such a thrilling experience, and it definitely comes with a lot of challenges, one of them being, being faster than flash, while making sure of doing nothing less than perfect makeup looks and hairstyles for the hundred(s) of models. Those super quick touch ups, and lipstick changes backstage between shows, that’s exactly the anxiety we live for 😉
The interesting thing is, that its always so refreshing to work alongside Daniel, and students are always learning something new, new makeup techniques, new hair techniques, learning to be more efficient, and the list goes on.
In placement projects like Lakmé Fashion Week, we see our Daniel Bauer Academy’s Industry Ready plus course students become so confident of their art. What better can we even ask for?
How many thank yous are enough thank yous for Team Lakmé Fashion Week, FDCI, and Daniel for such meaningful learning opportunities we are able to provide for our students?
