In a year that had tested the limits of creativity and resilience, the Daniel Bauer Academy had the distinct privilege of being part of the revolutionary virtual edition of India Couture Week, in collaboration with the Fashion Design Council of India (FDCI). For our students, this was more than just a chance—it was a moment to shine at the very heart of India’s couture scene, working with none other than the legendary Falguni Shane Peacock.

Bringing Couture to Life with Falguni Shane Peacock

Falguni and Shane Peacock are names synonymous with luxury, elegance, and a fearless approach to fashion. Known for their bold, unconventional designs, the duo has transformed the face of Indian couture, taking their creations from the runways of Delhi to the glittering circles of Hollywood. Their 2020 collection, Spectacle Prive, was a tribute to the grandeur of Jaipur—the Pink City—infused with its rich heritage, architecture, and abundant natural beauty. Our mission was clear: match these breathtaking creations with equally extraordinary makeup.

A Backstage Revolution: Digital Meets Couture

After months of lockdown and uncertainty, the buzz of a live show was finally back. But this time, the adrenaline rush of backstage was experienced from the safety of our screens. FDCI’s digital show was a breakthrough, and our students were right there, at the forefront of this historic moment. With around 20 talented artists from Daniel Bauer Academy, our team worked tirelessly to ensure each look was perfected, from sunrise to sunset. And for an extra layer of excitement? Daniel Bauer himself walked the runway, showcasing the artistry behind the brand.

Crafting Iconic Looks for an Iconic Collection

Every detail in the Spectacle Prive collection demanded perfection. Our team worked with Falguni and Shane’s team to create makeup that complemented the intricate beauty of each outfit. One standout moment was the creation of aged floral looks—our team used both real and faux flowers, some of which were carefully dried overnight in an oven by Daniel himself to achieve the perfect look.

The makeup took inspiration from the collection’s regal tones, with a striking new eye makeup technique involving plastic tapes to elongate the models’ eyes, creating a goddess-like effect. From sculpted buns to elongated metallic eyes, each look brought a new dimension of beauty to the collection.

A Monumental Collaboration

Working with Falguni Shane Peacock’s flagship store in Delhi was nothing short of a dream. Known as the “Mecca of Fashion,” their space was the perfect backdrop for the avant-garde creations we had the privilege to style. The partnership also earned our students a well-deserved spotlight in Peacock Magazine, where our makeup team’s artistry was celebrated in full.

What this digital fashion week proved was simple: Daniel Bauer Academy graduates are not just prepared—they’re exceptional. Whether it’s a high-pressure runway show, an international campaign, a film set, or a bridal transformation, our students consistently rise to the occasion. The India Couture Week 2020 digital show, widely regarded as the best of the season, was a testament to the artistry, skill, and creativity that defines Daniel Bauer Academy.
